1. Use an Alpha Channel Layers to Indicate Droppable Areas for Template Builder

   As I build out templates, I'm finding that I'm very concerned about exactitude in the margins, particularly for things like framed prints where being off by 1/8" of an inch will short a print and make a white edge stick out like a sore thumb against a white mat. An older software suite I used to use had a similar ability to make your own templates (though not propagate them to the end user online - S+'s great innovation), and that software could recognize an alpha channel in a layer, which the software then interpreted as draggable. That software wasn't sophisticated enough to handle layers on the z axis, so you had to have at least a single pixel separating images to give the impression of depth in your designs, but if Stratus could pick out the draggable areas for each layer and then stack them, so much the better. I'm not sure about alpha channels and .png files, but perhaps some strange color like green screen could be used in a .png to signal a drop area if nothing else. The end to be achieved: I could rest easy knowing my boundaries were perfectly square, flush, etc. because I made it in Photoshop. I just can't trust it's close enough in the template builder for the most demanding production, and I don't have the resources to check it at scale manually.

2. Add more detail (What message, what status(es), etc) to the Communication Job Manager.

   The Communication Job Manager (Utilities>Communication Job Manager) is very basic currently. When I schedule Communications in the Wizard, they will show up there, but with very little identifying information - meaning if something needs to be corrected, I have to delete all of the outgoing communications in order to reset the one I needed to fix. Recommending putting more identifying information (Client Status/Group, Date/Time Scheduled, Which Message Sent, etc.)

3. Show Triggers set to run automatically in Control Center (Just Gray them Out Since Handled by S+)

   A user requested "Add 'Process Triggers' to Control Center in MyStratus" as a feature, but it was declined because Control Center automatically processes them via S+ Servers: https://studioplus.uservoice.com/forums/560392-studioplus-product-suggestions/suggestions/18570112-add-process-triggers-to-control-center-in-mystra

   This makes sense, but I think there are two things to consider not addressed:

   1) Bill may not want to wait for Control Center to immediately process a Trigger set to Auto. I realize he could set the trigger to manual temporarily, fire it, and then set back to Auto; however, that is a hassle, and I think the bigger concern is that really "Run Job" should be an option in Control Center so that any job, not just a Trigger set to auto, can be run on demand - there are instances where it's mission critical for a business to have something run instantly.

   2) There's value in a Trigger that's been automated still showing in Control Center, particularly for verifying and stack tracing a workflow. I ran into this problem just now because I'm trying to automate an upload and notification workflow. When I go to Control Center because my next expected action is a Trigger set to run there automatically, it seems like I've missed a step when my workflow Trigger doesn't show in the Control Center. I can of course go to the logs (assuming it's been run), but that's really a pain to do. My suggestion is to showTriggers set to run automatically in the Control Center but just like grayed out with a reminder that these jobs are set to run automatically. Maybe grayed out doesn't make sense, though, because I still think it should be something you can execute. Really, you just want to make it clear you can't edit the Job here if it's a Trigger... so maybe make another text box separate for Triggers that when double clicked open the Trigger to edit just like the Control Center jobs open for editing when you double click them.

4. Allow limitation of promos to client groups (ideally even filters), not just statuses

   I'm trying to restrict a promo to only certain people in a shoot, specifically to people who have placed an order but had trouble so I can send them a make-right promo. Right now, I can only change their status individually to get it done, and there could be a good reason I have a client set to something specific, don't want it changed. Since I can layer on Client Groups without affecting anything, they're the better choice for targeting. A filter obviously opens up all kinds of targeting over just client groups (while including client groups).

5. Create Session Sub-Types

   I think this is what the user who posted about adding a "category" varible was really getting at and was important enough to be addressed in 2019 release: https://studioplus.uservoice.com/forums/560392-studioplus-product-suggestions/suggestions/34523479-online-booking-provide-main-categories-with-sess#comments

   I second the need for organization of online booking, and I would add another benefit to the update: it would help simplify statuses in workflows: I'm using Session Types for event photography, and I have to have both many unique Session Types (so that you can pick an event using online booking platform) and also many Session Statuses for each of those Session Types (so that I can do multi-stage uploads over multi-day events, uploading each day as we go). I did not realize there was not a way to just duplicate a list of Statuses the same way you can duplicate a Session Type.

   It seems to me that if your location is setup to use Session Statuses by Type and you duplicate a Session Type, the new Session Type should also have duplicate Statuses or at least you could be prompted to ask if you wanted to duplicate associate Session Statuses.

   I think the long-term solution is actually to create a Session Sub-Type so that Session Types can be for "categories" (just like user in initial post requests) of shoots and Session Sub-Types can be discrete shoots of the Type class. That way, I could just use "General Kind of Event" as Session Type (say, Executive Portraits) and setup Session Sub-Types for all of my specific coverage options (On-site, in-studio, etc.). This would also allow me to use online booking and have things like user suggests - Baby Portraits, Child Portraits, etc. - to make online booking easier to navigate for clients while still providing them with a comprehensive entry point for booking something with my business.

6. Allow price list change via automation and time elapsed (i.e. change price list after x days)

   Sytist (my old cart) had the ability to set a price list change to happen on a certain date in future at the gallery level. This was very useful for promotions where the better price goes away. There are reasons why you'd want to do it this way (maybe certain items - or a whole class of items - will no longer be available after the change) rather than using a sale or promo. I'm making a "sale" price list that I will inflate by 20% via replacement price list rather than use a promo code to do the sale so that people don't forget to use the code and email about it.

7. Allow products to be in multiple price list groups

   This would prevent price list bloat since copies can't have the same product code. I want to have digital add-ons to packages in both the package group and digital images group because I think people will go both places to look for them. Had to create duplicate product with boilerplate product code to get it done, adding unnecessary second product when a ~pointer/reference would suffice.

8. Use Session Direct Login Link for QR Codes instead of Session Number So Clients Can Keep Handout and Scan It

   I got this idea from Sheryl Bashore at one of her recent classes... shooting with QR codes is very fast since you don't have to listen to a 7-year-old garble his or her name three times and select it from a list. QR code sheets can also serve as a handout for clients to take home with them, getting photographers two for one on their money.

   The QR code itself, if turned into the direct Session Login Link, could be scanned by parents to take them directly to the gallery once it's posted. Bonus points for adding ~Session Sale Start/End Dates to Session Records - I use Custom Vars for this - so that the QR/Handout could also say, "Scan the QR Code on or after {StratusSaleStartVar}." Since Stratus is so rich with data, you could also add some information about a Session Promotion (eligible dates, promotional item offered, etc.), Sale End Date, etc. all programmatically.

   My clients are emailing me saying they've scanned the session QR code but that it's not working - this isn't just a feature request; clients, whom I usually solve for the least common denominator with technology, are actually expecting this functionality.

9. Make it possible to show only unread messages in the Messages Hub

   When I am checking messages, I generally just want to see anything new that has come in that I haven't attended to already. If y'all implement the Messages on Home, this will help the messages list on Home widget to be shorter and more immediately relevant.

10. Integrate bit.ly

    I'm getting billed for two SMS messages every time I send a Session login link, and that is just for the link itself. It needs to be native so that variables in form letters will work: I don't want to have to shorten links for all the 100s of kids at a school, etc.

11. Make Comparative Value, Cost, and Package Savings Calculator Functions for Packages

    I'm an unabashed fan of cheesy sales tactics - they've helped me persevere through 18 years of professional photography. "Compare at $500 Value!" may be the infomercialest sales tactic of them all, but you can tell me that when I'm playing with my grandkids and actually retired rather than still doing Santa at 70 years old.

    Right now, I'm making a spreadsheet that shows my packages, what my retail (20% inflated so I can run a 20% off sale and get people to actually order their dang pictures), 20% off "sale" price (what I'm actually willing to accept), my actual production cost, and a comparative value amount. The last two Stratus could easily calculate and save me a lot of hassle: just add the lab cost and retail value of package items and show them to me. If you wanted to get fancy, on the the cost side at least you could add room for a line item in case there is some additional cost to assembling, etc. the package (maybe you have special packaging you use for presentation?) that would not be incurred if the items were ordered in isolation.

    You want to know just how salesy I am? Alongside the comparative value calculator, I'd also make a "Package Savings" calculator (just remembered to add to my spreadsheet) so that I can use ~"$123 Package Savings" in my product descriptions. Spend to save just sells, think what you may of it.

    This was Matt Roit's idea, and I couldn't agree more: I'd love to have graphic templates I can use off the shelf integrated with Stratus and that I wouldn't have to digitize myself. I think it could raise funds for S+ by getting a referral fee from the services and also lead to larger IBY sales, a tide that would lift all boats. As a photographer, I've found that graphics and off-camera lighting are the ways that I can compete against free, which is what my competition in form of parents with cameras are charging for their services. Such competition can't be bothered with graphics and are generally intimidated by learning how to light along with the expense of doing it. Lighting takes a lot of effort, but just loading in new graphics does not.

    To make this really sing, I would use the Remove.BG API to make it so that people can knock out the backgrounds of pictures in the browser and build their next-level custom graphic item without my intervention. That would be front-end. I also believe that Remove.BG coupled with templates and some simple recursion could replace a lot of Pixnub people are doing before posting. I had to babysit my computer for probably two days to finish all the templates I made for my most recent team shoot. If Stratus had only a little more capability to tie together its existing features, the results would be next-level.

14. Update complete date sort function in Communication to use padded month and date values for correct sort

    I think this is actually a bug: when you are in a Client record and click Communication and then sort by Complete Date, a date like 9/15/2024 shows as later than 9/2/2024. Padding month and dates with leading 0 will fix.

15. Make some way to easily report Pending Web Orders for Sessions with actual order invoices to eliminate false shopping carts

    I just answered a client email, and she had a large pending web order followed by one from same day with maybe an increment of 1 or 2 for the order / invoice number. That client almost certainly didn't have a shopping cart she still wants to hold onto in my experience. IDK if those are done by the device or what, but I want to find a way to get rid of ~false positive ~abandoned carts from clients who have placed an order dated later than the earlier Pending Web Order that has yet to be ordered. I use shopping carts to read the breaks on horizon when closing up a sale... dont' want to have false hope. This is really common these days, so even if it can be done with a convoluted filter and elbow grease, I really just want an easy way to have an idea how much money might come in soon if people follow through (so maybe I call them, etc.).

16. Add a Custom URL that takes a client to his or her shopping cart, not just invoice payment

    As far as I can tell, there's no good way to direct a client straight to an abandoned shopping cart. I want one and a way to trigger the email that contains it automatically in order to automate abandoned shopping cart recovery.

17. Make it so that sending an SMS doesn't close the SMS Text window

    I am frequently sending a series of texts with a client or even just dialoging and would like the window to remain open instead of closing after I send a new SMS so that I don't have to click on the text thread just to open the client communication I was just working on. I'd prefer just to close the box. IDK if it updates in real time if a new text comes in, but I do want that or at least a reload button so that I can text in real time like a conversation.

18. Dashboard report for sales by Session Type with ~Live Option

    Since I've been recommended to use unique Session Types for each discrete event photography shoot I do, I would like to have a dashboard report to monitor those sales, especially in real time. 19. Add error notification for Session Import Utility for records with Session Numbers Containing Special Characters

    I can't remember if an issue I had recently (not the one I mention in post above) had to do with filenames or session numbers and special characters, but my guess is that Session Numbers with special characters like -"( and so on that might be found in a name will likely cause issues with Stratus.

    Using names as part of Session Numbers is a reasonable way to setup an Entagged Session Number: SomeShootLastNameGroup): Mary-Kate or Mary Kate Jones. It doesn't have to be Entagged... anything that you might use upstream like a form that you use to render and push in Session Numbers to Stratus and that will be read by the Bulk Importer could be setup the same way.

    I think it's important to test this.

    I can't remember if an issue I had recently (not the one I mention in post above) had to do with filenames or session numbers and special characters, but my guess is that Session Numbers with special characters like -"( and so on that might be found in a name will likely cause issues with Stratus.

    Using names as part of Session Numbers is a reasonable way to setup an Entagged Session Number: SomeShootLastNameGroup): Mary-Kate or Mary Kate Jones. It… more

20. Add ability to Omit or Replace Special Characters in Addition to Rename for Image Ingest and Bulk Image Importer

    Since garbage in can in some cases mean not even garbage out (see support ticket [#120591]) and even those who should therefore know better (I can't think of anybody this applies to sitting a chair right now in my office, but I'll update post if I do) will ingest files with special characters like spaces, etc. that can cause online delivery to fail, I suggest the ability to replace special characters with underscores or to just delete them and shorten filenames be added to existing option to rename files on ingest for both normal file ingest (e.g. at Session, etc.) and Bulk Import.
