Simplify the Session Import Utility and Add Common Industry CRM Export Files (from S+ Competitors) to Ease Switching
The new Session Import Utility starts with prompt to "Select the file to import" and then prompts you with three radio buttons and a field to actually pick the file. After using the utility many times recently, I still tend to use it incorrectly by clickint the radio to import an exel file and then picking the file only to realize that I wanted to use a template... so I have to go back and change the radio button, pick the dropdown element, and then select the file again. I think the usability issue is because I tend to just read the system from the top to the bottom. This may seem another PEBCAK error.
But if you think about it, when the radio buttons are really asking "Are you going to want to start without a template (first two radio bottons) or with one (third radio button)." I believe the interface could be simplified to a dropdown and a file picker: the dropdown would offer the choice to either start without a template or use one of these existing ones, and the file picker would remain a file picker - you could just read the file extension to answer quesion of existing two radio buttons (is this a text, csv, or spreadsheet file) and save the trouble of asking user. I don't believe it's proper implementation to do it this way, but you could make the first two dropdown choices "Start with a blank template and use a .txt or .csv, and Start with blank template and use an .xls or .xlsx file." This would be the case if the code needed a two-part choice and it was arduous to make the extension sniffing utility. But I really do think the question is about using a template or not.
Because I think the system is so powerful and that people will want to change to it, I'd further suggest that y'all take the time to make it easy for people to switch away from existing solutions like Pixie set does, pre-making .CSV import templates for Bloom.io, Dubsado, Honeybook, Session, Shootproof, Studio Ninja, 17Hats... and Pixieset's own studio manager as well because of how much more robust S+ is with CRM capabaility v. that of Pixieset itself.
